Position Description

The Senior Programmer - EpicCare Inpatient/HOV is involved with all phases of software development from design to implementation to solve complex system problems. May provide application support to other teams. Completes necessary internal reporting and reports status to management. Codes, tests, debugs and documents programs. May develop application designs, devise or modify procedures to solve problems and prepare detailed specifications. Ensures adherence to all standards. Endeavors to become an application expert. May create user documentation and training materials or sessions. Completes any other applicable requests from management.

Responsibilities

Building, testing and developing new functionality for EpicCare Inpatient / HOV
Implementing EpicCare Applications
Conducting upgrade testing and application support
Writing Technical Documentation and workflow designs
Identifying limitations within existing product and work with vendor to improve future versions of Epic
Troubleshooting day-to-day issues
Handling onsite and on-call support to users

Experience

4 year college degree preferred or equivalent computer skills/information systems on the job training required
4 plus years supporting and developing computer based applications required
Familiarity with data processing concepts and client server applications
Knowledge of healthcare applications (e.g. Epic, GE Healthcare, IDX, Cerner, Misys, Vista)
Experience working with DBMS
Knowledge of reporting tools (e.g. Clarity, SQL)
Ability to work on an "on-call" rotation basis
Epic care HOV, ER, and/or Pharmacy experience is preferred
Knowledge of mumps, Cache, C++, Java, & SQL is a plus
